A Hazel Favorite…

Food is a great way to meet someone’s needs and make them feel appreciated and loved. A good dish can say a lot of things (i.e. “enjoy your new house”, “I hope you feel better”, “welcome to the neighborhood”, “you’re someone special”). When you want to deliver something by hand, try baking this little masterpiece:

Sweet Potato Pie

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix…
½ tsp. baking soda
½ cup buttermilk
…and set aside

Mix…
1 ½ cup of hot mashed sweet potatoes
1 tblsp butter
…and set aside

Mix…
2 tblsp. flour
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. baking powder
1 cup sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
…and set aside

Beat…
2 eggs

Mix all together and pour into…
1unbaked pie shell.

Bake for 10 minutes at 400, then lower the temperature to 300 and bake for 45 minutes more.

Make your people feel loved.

You can boil…but baking is the best way. Let me know how it turns out! Thanks for writing, Kerry.
